Walk Through:
A Fine-Art Exhibition

the Gibbes Museum of Art
October 22, 2026

Inside the evening

CINÉ curates a fine-art exhibition at the Gibbes Museum of Art benefiting My Sister’s House. Original art, live music, and film come together in a richly layered evening. The night opens into a full salon from the moment guests arrive, and ends in shared energy, beauty, and celebration.

Artwork is available for acquisition through advance preview and on site during the event.

Curatorial vision

There comes a moment when life breaks open.

Walk Through is built around that threshold. The exhibition moves through the courage it takes to step into the unknown, the long and imperfect work of building something better, and the beauty, softness, and quiet pride that can exist on the other side.

The exhibition unfolds through three stages:

  1. Reclamation — the moment of epiphany
  2. Resilience — the work of rebuilding
  3. Respite — the quiet return of joy

A separate reflection room grounds the journey in the lived realities of survivors, reminding us that this exhibition is more than metaphor.

We’re looking for work that is emotionally resonant and highly collectible. Direct depictions of violence or abuse are not part of the curatorial vision. Symbolic, atmospheric, metaphorical, abstract, and narrative responses are all welcome.

Artists may submit one to three pieces. Existing work, work in progress, or new work developed in response to the theme are all welcome. Final selection will be curated with the full exhibition in mind.

Artist receives 50% of the sale price, set by the artist, excluding sales tax. The remaining 50% benefits My Sister's House programs.

If you choose to have us frame your work, framing costs will be deducted from your payout, capped at $75 for small works and $200 for large works. You are welcome to provide your own frame, but it must be gallery-appropriate and is subject to approval.

We recommend pricing work at your standard studio or gallery rate.

Creative Guidelines

We’re looking for work that is emotionally resonant and highly collectible. Direct depictions of violence or abuse are not part of the curatorial vision. Symbolic, atmospheric, metaphorical, abstract, and narrative responses are all welcome.

WHAT IS THE NARRATIVE ARC?
Walk Through places you inside the moment you realize the life you’ve been living can no longer continue as it has been. It brings you face to face with the terrifying courage it takes to face what must change and step into the unknown, then carries you through the long, imperfect work of building something better. One step forward, two steps back. Days that feel worse before they feel better. The hope it takes to keep going anyway. The journey concludes with the quiet realization that you have arrived on the other side—where beauty and softness return, and the pride of a life rebuilt with intention begins to surface. While the exhibition is presented in support of survivors of domestic violence, its larger emotional frame is intentionally expansive, allowing artists to respond from many forms of lived experience.

OPTIONAL MATERIALS + STARTING POINTS
Optional resource material is available for artists who find it helpful, including brief written reflections, poetry, music playlists, and concept starting points tied to each emotional chapter of the exhibition. Use of this material is entirely optional. Artists are equally welcome to respond independently and follow their own emotional thread.

HOW TO INTERPRET
Atmosphere (color / light / space) • Symbol (object / fragment) • Place (landscape / interior) • Body (gesture / posture) • Text (poetry / erasure) • Concept (installation / material)

HOW MANY PIECES CAN I SUBMIT?
Artists may submit one to three pieces. A single strong work is absolutely welcome. Small related groupings may also be considered.

DO I HAVE TO MAKE SOMETHING NEW?
Final inclusion will be curated with the overall exhibition in mind. Artists are welcome to submit existing work, work already in progress, or new work developed in response to the theme. In all cases, inclusion will depend on the strength of the submission and its fit within the emotional arc and overall curation of the exhibition.

Event Attendance + Tickets

Attendance is warmly welcomed, but not required. Each artist will receive one complimentary ticket, and the evening will include an artist meet-and-greet and celebration moment.
